This game is mostly a movie with some playing in between but I don't mind it, the dialogue is hilarious and the animation is very well done.
A few glitches maybe in the gameplay:
-I was killing enemies right after the "Distress Call" scene and the 3 big ships that couldn't seem to fight back, dispersed. I killed 2 of them but the 3rd escaped off screen and it's unreachable. I'm just flying around now.
-When I got frustrated, I tried to pause or go to the menu or something but I couldn't find a button so I pressed "P" and my ship just stopped moving. Maybe I wasn't paying attention and thats what it was supposed to do. But I also pressed "M" for menu or something and nothing happened.

That's pretty much it. I love it for the most part.

EldritchAbomination responds:

Thanks for the comment! I'm fixing the escaping ships now, and we're still looking into that pause issue. The pause issue is pretty rare now.

Also - you can customize ALL of your controls in the Options Menu

UGH!!!!!

I like the improvement on the game since your last one. Basic but still enjoyable.
My only problem is the ending! I'm not sure what I'm supposed to grab to hit the demon--the bottle? the gun? the staff? it's bugging me and I've scanned over every other part of town looking for it. I thought maybe the statue with the bow and arrow but nothing is clickable there. Basically nothing was clickable anymore by the time I got to this part (other than the ability to move to different screens)
I don't know.... lack of indication as to what sort of item to use makes you lose some points. Overall a fun game.
I just want to know how to end it :(

You're almost there. You have to do something in the room where the big red thing is shooting on you ;-)
Thanks for the review!

Ugh optical illusions

Hahah I love this. I still haven;t gotten sick of his little grunts when I last for a long time.
Its gotten so bad though that I literally see everything sort of inverted as if the lava was upside down. Lol I MC Escher's this bitch.
Kept me playing for hours.
Great graphics as always
Hilarious voice and characterization.
Simple controls which is what appeals to me most.
Much love.

oh wondrous childhood

Had a take a point off for design, i know you had only a handful of hours but font is a bit tacky and just the type with nothing outlining it or anything, makes it seem to blend with the background.
But.
I love this game.
I got chills when I put two "magics" in the machine. Such a beautiful concept, game, music, etc. It truly brings me back to the old original movie and allows me to finally visualize what Charlie would be doing afterward. I think a little nostalgia is wonderful and I'm happy you guys were able to create it.
Such a simple objective but so very magical.
How did you do the music though? did you make it yourself or did you find it? I love this version, so retro but still as enchanting as the original version.

Thanks for your review!
Yeah, I wish it could be more polished, but we were really strapped on time, as all the combinations and descriptions had to be hard-coded in, as well as all of the icons had to be made.
I took a midi of the song, and put it through a chip-tune conversion software to get that retro feel.

Awww

Dis is fun times :>
Hehe, I actually enjoy this very much and I get sucked in more and more when I unlock a new robot.
I love the stories behind them, the parodies are spot on.
Great design, no glitches, fun concept.
Only complaint is how slow Jose moves but I suppose you try to be realistic with the whole jetpack part. Though when he runs on the ground, he's just as sluggish. Idk maybe it's better for the difficulty of it all...I'll still give this a 10.
Kudos. ;)

DieterTheuns responds:

Thanks a lot, I'll talk to Tharos about the running speed, maybe he can fix it.

Hot shit

This was intense. I just played Escaping Prison an hour ago and decided to see if anything new was up. To my luck, you put up the sequel yesterday ;)
I dig the memes in the game and the gameplay itself. Plenty of humor which let me actually enjoy failing.
The animation was well executed and the character design was pretty dope.
And no glitches. That alone, I'm ecstatic about considering it's a new game.
Music was fly but the voice audio seemed a bit dull. Dialogue was chill, voice acting was chill, they both added to the humor though audio quality could be kicked up a notch.
The medal menu was real rad though
Anyway, I'll give you a 9. Lack of save option and the audio affected the score but overall, you did super duper time hurrr
Definitely kept my attention. Kudos.

PuffballsUnited responds:

Thanks for the review! The only thing about the sound was I had to turn the quality down or the filesize would be even bigger.. So I couldn't do too much about that. I understand the save feature option though. These games are getting long enough now for people to not want to play them in one sitting.

Nice design but flawed plot

This was beautiful. Cute atmosphere with a tinge of eerie and as it progressed the eerie got more and more prevalent. I liked that. I also liked the sounds and how crisp everything went. I liked the clever obstacles and even Mama who was most certainly the villain in the end.
Unfortunately this just seems really pretentious if you dont give an ending. That's the beauty of the relationship between a game and a gamer, the gamer does everything the game asks; run, jump, grab, etc. And as a reward for the gamer's good efforts, they are given a short cutscene. You see, the gamer doesn't ask for much, they want to know the developer likes making the game, likes their fans and maybe allowing the gamer experience the story the developer is trying to tell. I'd say this is just a bunch of cryptic bullshit covered over with good game design. Maybe you should consider collabing with a writer and just stick to programming and designing.
You can't guise the fact that you're basically just scattering out tidbits of information and appear as if you're artistic. Granted, an artist never reveals all, but this is just silly. Not even a hint there will be a second one.
So I'm sorry, but I personally feel jerked around for spending a good hour or so running and jumping and breaking my fingers to simply find out there is no conclusion. I don't care what sort of message you were trying to deliver, every great metaphorical story has an ending.
I wish I could give you a better rating but the things you're lacking takes off a big, big chunk of my respect.
Also, you have some color glitches going on in the credits.

AtmosGames responds:

Haehyun,

Thanks for your time in writing such a lengthy review :)

As for the plot, give it another play, then see what you think. I truly believe the plot I revealed was just enough, but if you don't think so the second time through then maybe you could PM me your thoughts.

Thanks!
